THE NATURE OF MIRI


Miri is known as Sarawak’s second city. It is a thriving oil town that is busy and modern. The food here is good, and there are plenty of things to do. Miri is a coastal city that is in northeastern Sarawak, Malaysia located near the boarder of Brunei. Miri is the main tourist gateway to the world-famous UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are some nature places in Miri that I recommended to go. Here’s some of the recommendations.

TUSAN BEACH

Tusan Beach is one of the new attractive place in Miri. This beach is very beautiful and guess what? You will be able to see the most beautiful view of the sunset here. 
This beach is around 30 minutes away from Miri but it is worth the time to come here.

You can now enjoy the incredible sight named Blue Tears at Tusan Beach, just a short drive of half an hour from Miri City. It is a stunning sight of glowing ocean waters with luminous special effects.

LAMBIR HILL NATIONAL PARK

Lambir Hills National Park is probably the world’s most complex and diverse forest ecosystem. If you are a person who love jungle trekking, sighting of insects, wildlife, plants, photography and dipping in waterfall but you have not enough time to do those in one day, Lambir Hills National Park is definitely for you! You can do all of those there. There are wild pigs, flying squirrels, various species of birds, reptiles, mammals, frogs and large mammals such as gibbons and sun bear are absent or very rare.

Entrance fee is RM10 for adult and RM5 for child.

ACCOMODATION

Park accommodation consists of chalet units, and a camp site. You may contact the National Parks Booking Office in Miri for the latest room rates and to make reservations.

GETTING THERE

Lambir is only 32 km from Miri. From Miri (Pujut Corner Bus Terminal) take any express bus to Bintulu, Sibu or Kuching, all of which stop directly opposite the park HQ. The journey time is 30-40 minutes. If you take a taxi (approx. RM70 each way), arrange a pick-up time for the return journey.
Self-drive cars are also available – ask at hotel counter.

GUNUNG MULU NATIONAL PARK


The Gunung Mulu National Park with its Sarawak Chamber, which is the largest known cave chamber in the world by area, remains one of the favourite ecotourism destinations in Miri.

Gunung Mulu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of Outstanding Natural Beauty, has everything to offer for both leisure and adventurous visitors. It has the world’s most extensive cave system, jungle trekking, river rapids, and fascinating people, including Sarawak’s last nomadic tribes.

The best way to experience this amazing variety of life is on jungle and mountain treks that require overnight stays at jungle camps. These treks require guides and a certain level of fitness, especially the Pinnacles on GunungApi,with it’s razor sharp limestone peaks soaring above the surrounding jungle

GETTING THERE

By air:

Gunung Mulu is served by rural air service provider, Maswings. There are daily flights between Miri and Mulu and three weekly flights from Kuching and Kota Kinabalu

By boat:

  • Get an early morning taxi or self drive from Miri to Kuala Baram
  • Take the lunchtime express boat between KB to Marudi
  • At Marudi, take a smaller boat to Long Terawan
  • At Long Terawan hire a small boat to the park

HOW TO GET THERE

IKEA Cheras is located just right beside MyTown shopping mall where you can now easily reach the store by taking MRT and stop at Cochrane or you can ride on the free shuttle bus provided by IKEA at Lrt Chan Sow Lin bus stop and also IKEA main door bus stop

The reason why i prefer going to Ikea Cheras instead of Ikea Damansara is that sunway area traffic is very jam compared to cheras.Plus Ikea cheras can be reach easily by taking public transport. Apart from this, Ikea Cheras is also bigger than Ikea Damansara.
